What “Your Body Never Lies” Means

“Your body never lies” is a phrase that reflects the impact of body language on our experience of life. It points to many aspects of living, and may be interpreted in a myriad of ways.

Here are a few of the more salient meanings of the phrase:

Our Body Language Tells Others the Truth

Our body language always tells others the truth. Regardless of our own denials or attempts to deceive, our body language always gives it away. Like a child covered in chocolate who denies taking the cookies, body language is prima facie evidence of our true inner truth.

Example: I trusted his love because life itself felt expansive in his presence.

While it is true that a deceptive person may learn to hide or mask much of their body language, an expert can always catch the involuntary responses that give their deceptions away.

Example: The more emphatic the denials, the larger her pupils became.

Our Body Tells Us the Truth

Our body always tells us the truth. Body sensations, random thoughts or questions, and shifts in our emotional state can all be indicators of intuitive information. Discerning intuitive messages from our own inner body language is a core skill taught here at The YBNL College.

Example: I felt like turning left, and so I did and instantly found parking.

Our Body Is Always Monitoring

Our body does not rest; it is constantly monitoring our environment and processing fresh information. Faith that any critical information will be transmitted to us is also faith that any information we receive is relevant. Testing the information (rather than ignoring it) will lead to faith that our body is always watching out for us.

Example: Waking up in the middle of the night with their neck hair standing on end, all of the campers knew there was a mountain lion prowling outside.

Learning to Hear the Message

Our body always tells us the truth, but we do not always hear it or recognize it until its value has passed. We tend to either miss, ignore, or even second-guess subtle information coming from our body sensations. With training, however, we can tune into our body's messages and use them while they have value.

Example: I knew I was going to miss; next time I'll listen.

The Body Reflects Unresolved History

Stuck energy in the body (tension) has a correlation to unresolved issues in our history. When the issue is resolved, the body relaxes which gives instant confirmation that the healing occurred.

Example: My body wasn't lying when my shoulders were tight; they had been tight ever since that woman broke up with me. After acknowledging that she wasn't right for me, however, my shoulders relaxed and it became easier to meet women again.
